Super Bowl trailer - www.firstshowing.net/...

I personally think this film looks really lame, but hey, could surprise me.
I'm with you there bro.
It looks like a crossover between Avatar and the Narnia films, all of which suck (some may differ with Avatar.)
That, and it's a live-action Disney film. [sick]
But yeah, it just looks very contrived, corny and kiddish, and not in a way that has that Disney charm about it that their animated movies do.
The only upside I see is that it is from Andrew Stanton, the director of Finding Nemo and Wall-E. After Brad Bird's successful move from Pixar to real-life action, maybe Stanton can also succeed.

That's true. I didn't know Stanton was directing it!
Could be alright. Lately I've found that trailers have been really deceiving in terms of depicting what a movie's going to be like, so I'm tending not to judge by them anymore.
But yeah, if the trailer is anything to go by, then it's not looking too good in my opinion.
Going by the trailer it looks god awful.
Sections of the trailers look like a spin-off of Star Wars (Attack of the Clones?) exactly like Anakin and Padme in the arena.

I reckon it looks alright though, will probably check it out if it doesn't get panned completely by critics.
I agree that some of it looks like AOTC.

I reckon a lot of it looks like Prince of Persia as well.
Well, a few "not review" reviews are coming in, and apparently it's actually a LOT better than the trailers arguably made it out to be.
To quote one of the critics initial thoughts: "John Carter is rich, multi-faceted, fascinating and fulfilling."
Disney has an embargo on reviews, so they can't say too much, but at least it's starting to seem like it's not gonna be panned completely by critics.

Here's a link to a few more initial thoughts from some of the better known moviebloggers if you guys are interested:

They're down the bottom.
I thought this might have some promise. It may just work. Let's hope anyway, because we need a new series like this, Hunger Games isn't looking too crash hot.
Oh, really?
I was really looking forward to Hunger Games. =/

What are you talking about? We've got Avatar 2 and 3 on the way. :P
Still not convinced on this one.

I'm still a bit skeptical, but now I at least have motivation to go and see it, whereas before I wasn't even going to bother. :P
Your scepticism is still valid.

lol [Facepalm]
I want to see this for Tim Riggins. Hopefully it will be good. Encouraging to see some positive things being said about it.
Yeah all the reviews so far have been quite promising, but they all say the same thing... the film is too long. I think that'll turn a lot of people off. I know it turns me off, the trailer is boring and by the time you add trailers you will be sitting in the cinema for 160 minutes, all leads to a no thanks for me. I'll wait for the DVD.
Unless it's painful to watch, I don't mind a long movie.

I don't mind a long movie either, I am just disinterested in the film and the idea of sitting in a cinema for 3 hours watching a film I'm disinterested in sounds really unappealing.

That's fair enough.
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close was hell for me to sit through. For the first time in a long time I started playing a game on my iPhone for a little bit while it was on. :P

You realise I'm being sarcastic right? :*O
I'm pretty damn excited for this.
Gonna buy me some popcorn and be entertained.

The Marketing is definitely terrible though, but I'm not so sure that this is an easy film to market. I'm kind of expecting this to surprise a lot of people and have a lot more depth than your other CGI films.

*cough*Avatar*cough*
Avatar tried too hard with that though to be meaningful, and in the end it just felt like getting punched in the face with the most obvious social commentary ever.
What is Avatar?
it was a good film but they are right it was to long and sadly due to the whole issue with it not seem original(i know it was went it was written but hey kids dont read these days) it will not always hold ur attention like it should. still a fun film if u liked the books or havent seen a scifi in a while. 30 mins less and it woulda been outstanding
