Edge of Darkness - Mel Gibson

Saw this tonight. I haven't seen the original TV series, but I was pretty disappointed with this one actually. I just couldn't really get into the plot. It just wasn't compelling enough. The action sequences, while very few and far between, are exciting though and very well directed (Campbell needs to go back to Bond!), and the scene when Craven's daughter is killed is a harrowing one. We may have only been introduced to her for about five minutes or so, but it was a very affective scene IMO. Unfortunately, I just didn't think the rest of the film held up very well, as either a compelling crime/mystery or a thriller. The fact that Craven hallucinates hearing and seeing her throughout draws away from the film as well. Acting was below par. Gibson might be a little rusty. He mumbles a lot of his lines, as does Ray Winstone. Some dialouge I could barely understand, although I did manage to catch some pretty great lines. Danny Huston was great though. Anyways, disappointed...
Going to see this on Sat. Big Mel Gibson fan.
