Jake Kasdan's 'Bad Teacher' is a politically incorrect gem of lewd funniness and quality gags. Its lead in Cameron Diaz is as selfish a character as you'll ever see, a perfect compliment for a ruthlessly foul-mouthed tale.
The film follows Elizabeth (Diaz), an often-inappropriate teacher who, after being dumped by her charming fiance, sets out to win over the heart of a handsome substitute (Justin Timberlake). Enter the affection of a sarcastic, irreverent gym teacher (Jason Segel), and you have the makings for a perfect love triangle. Enter Elizabeth's overly energetic colleague, Amy (Lucy Punch), and things get insane, fast!
This titillating 'teensploit' delivers the perfect amount of raunchiness to counter its cheap romantic sentiments, fueled by cheap laughs and a predictably thin narrative that successfully propels the film into "B-Grade" status.
What 'Bad Teacher' does well most of all is convince us that Diaz's character is real, driven by a superb performance by the film's lead character. This film might not sit well with everyone, but anyone looking for cheap laughs, memorable gags and a promising script should look no further than this gross-out comedy.
